Takahiro Suzuki (he/him/his) is a Maine-based artist and educator. Recent works have considered narratives surrounding non-human forms of intelligence and the narratives formed when such beings are given agency. Suzuki is an Assistant Professor of Art at Colby College and also the co-founder and co-curator of aCinema.

Thirteen artist students were asked to collaborate on an abstract animation that translates Dave Keifer's song "Mushroom Angel" into moving image.
Through the motion, color, shape, and texture of their animated sequence, they captured the rhythm, melody, timbre, and structure of the audio. The goal was not to illustrate the music literally, but to find a visual system that parallels it.

the Expanded Animation Collective: Marina Ayala, Katherine Cook, Sophia Dulligan, Matt Jin, Bernard Lemieux, Roswell Magne, K.F. Otis, Andrea Sanchez, Parth Tare, Nina Vo, Ava Walls, Jiaqi Wei, and Karma Whittemore are interdisciplinary animators living in Western Massachusetts. Producer Hallie Bahn is an experimental and expanded animation artist and Assistant Professor of Animation at UMass Amherst.

albus is an experimental film moving between fluidity and stasis, the micro and the macro. Icy surfaces drift into shifting textures, forming a subtle rhythm that transforms silent natural movement into a painterly composition. albus (Latin for "white," "bright," or "clear") unfolds as a quiet meditation in which fleeting, minute moments open onto distant, luminous spaces.

Youin Moon is a South Korean artist and experimental filmmaker based in Boston. She has exhibited and screened her work nationally and internationally, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Ann Arbor Film Festival, the deCordova New England Biennial, and the solo film screening at Harvard Film Archive. Moon is currently an Assistant Professor in Studio Foundation at MassArt.

Through first-person voices of independent “YEMASE” miners in Myanmar’s jadeite regions, the film refuses external pity and explores structural predicaments of survival and how imperial aesthetics shape the value of matter and geoeconomic relations. Through the cinematic language of “gaze” and “selection,” it interrogates the anthropocentric arrogance of reducing planetary creation hundreds of millions of years old to transient human luxury.

Ray Ming-rui Sun is an interdisciplinary artist and scholar whose practice explores the intersection of material imagination, digital humanities, and ecological sustainability.
